HeartFull Creative was dreamed into being by teacher and creative spirit Johanna Peters. As a child, Johanna felt most connected to herself and to the world around her through nature, stories, music, and art. These threads have carried her into her adult years and inspired her to share these passions with others, especially children. In 2012 she completed her Bachelor of Education at UBC as an Elementary Education generalist.

She quickly realized that her education degree was missing some key elements – namely the importance of play, relationship-building, and environment as teacher.

These pieces were filled in for her during her time as a preschool teacher and the many hours of workshops she completed on Early Childhood Education principles. During this time, she also became a certified kids Yoga instructor and Music Together teacher which allowed her to share movement and music with many kids and families around Vancouver.

On Salt Spring Island Johanna worked for 7 years teaching multi-age classroom and outdoor programs, supporting families with their home learning, and running creative camps and programs. Johanna’s poems have been published in a variety of collections for women’s writing and she is a proud member of the vocal trio and song writing collective The Selkies of Salt Spring.

After nearly 20 years on the coast, Johanna currently finds herself in her birthplace of Calgary, Alberta where she is reconnecting with family and taking on new adventures. She returns to her Salt Spring community often to create and play!
